Denali

So, the Denali camping trip was one of those "will make a good story someday" trips. It's about a three hour drive from where we were staying. We did stop half way in a cute town called Talkeetna, and bought all of our Alaska souvenirs there. A cute little bear for Rose, a moose for Lucy, some earrings for me, and a deck of cards for Ryan. We also had lunch there. If you ever go to Alaska, try to go to Talkeetna, it's got the cutest shops!
Anyway, we get to the campground and find out that the car with all of the camping supplies has been locked with the keys inside. So, Ryan and Christy spend THREE hours trying to unlock the car before some rangers finally come and help us get it open (in less than 5 minutes, sigh). And while they were working on unlocking the car I sat inside the other car with Rose, Lucy, and Taysom and attempted to keep them entertained for THREE hours. (You know, after a three hour drive there.) After we got the car unlocked we unloaded the car, got camp set up, and had dinner ready by about 11 pm. But the girls slept really well in the tent (once again Rose woke up and got into Ryan's sleeping bag...so he didn't sleep well, but Rose did. Poor Ryan.)

In the morning, we got camp all put away (camping for one night just doesn't quite seem worth the amount of work it is). We then drove to Denali and went on a pretty hike, had lunch, and then drove home. I am a little bummed I didn't see a bear or a moose, but we did see a caribou on our way out, and that was pretty cool.
