Cecret Lake Family Hike - August 2021

One hike that I have wanted to try out for a while is Cecret Lake, in Little Cottonwood Canyon. I was told that it is a perfect family hike, short and easy to do since it's less than 2 miles there and back. Well, turns out, when holding small children, it's a little less than easy to hike up a mountain, even if it is just under a mile to the top. 😅 I carried Rose on my back and my camera around my neck, and Ryan carried Lucy on his front and the diaper bag on his back. I learned later on that I could unbuckle the chest and waist strap on the toddler carrier and that made it easier for me to breathe, but for the first half of the hike I felt like I was dying! This is a short hike, but the elevation gain is pretty steep. And clearly my lungs are not from a high altitude area. (Florida and Texas are preeeeetttttttyyyy close to sea level.) Despite my almost passing out at the top of the hike, we had a lot of fun! At the top, Ryan and Rose skipped rocks into the lake and Lucy and I sat in the dirt and looked at flowers and rocks while I caught my breath. It was super duper pretty, and I got some adorable pictures of the girls. Which is all I ever want, that and for the girls to have fun. :)

One of my goals in life is for my children to LOVE the outdoors and to always be able to find magic, beauty, and wonder when they are outside. And I think they are off to a great start. ❤️
