Lucy turned 2 this year! Unfortunately, she had a pretty bad fever on her birthday and was just not up for celebrating very much. :( We surprised her by blowing up a bunch of balloons for her to wake up to, and that was exciting, but she was just too tired and sick to fully enjoy them. (See: series of pictures of her not wanting her picture taken, starting to enjoy playing with the balloons, and then they won't stack in a tower the way she wants them to and she's upset again. haha) She also wasn't thrilled that I tried to take cute pictures of her in her new jumper in the backyard, even when I gave her two of my prized daffodils to play with!
For her birthday we got her some new clothes (including this green jumper because she loves jumpers), some mess free markers and coloring pages, and a picture book full of pictures of her as a baby.
We did take her to a cupcake shop to pick out a cupcake that she could eat after blowing out a candle. She was wary of the candle and was not interested in blowing it out, it's funny because Rose was the same way. My two year olds are NOT interested in blowing out the candles. But they do enjoy the cake. Or just the frosting. Lucy's favorite part of the day was sitting outside and playing with chalk (she didn't love when Rose threw a piece of chalk at her head... but that's only to be expected. No one likes having chalk thrown at their head.)
