Pumpkin Patch 2020

This year was our third year going to the pumpkin patch at Rowley's Red Barn. We've gone every fall that Rose has been alive and each year has gotten better and better. The first year Rose was only 5 months old when we went so we looked at the pumpkins and picked two out, took some pictures on haystacks, I think I went on a zipline and then we went home. Last year Rose was 1 1/2 when we went and enjoyed parts of the experience. She loved picking out a pumpkin and eating apple cider donuts, but she was traumatized by some enthusiastic goats at the petting zoo and was not interested in trying the big slide.

This year was SO fun. I still feel so much joy when I think about it. Rose is at a perfect age where all of this stuff feels novel and exciting for her. She LOVES spotting pumpkins and picking some out for us to take home was like the stuff dreams are made out of for her. Rowley's has this giant corn maze that they do every year, and we've walked into it briefly in past years, but this year we went further in and spent most of our time hanging out in the maze Rose loved wandering around and deciding which way we should go. She also liked picking up the corn and playing with it (which we realized later we were not supposed to do... sorry Rowley's...) We got some super duper cute pictures of the girls while in the maze, which is what most of these pictures are from. Towards the end you will see some pictures of Lucy sitting in the hay with the sun shining behind her. This was her first time sitting up by herself! And she was doing so good and Ryan told me to stop hovering over her because she was doing so well and then she fell over onto the hay. She was upset, but mostly just because she was sitting up and then all of a sudden she wasn't.  And that would be frustrating to anyone. But it did scratch her face up a little bit... which you will see in one of the last photos of me and her. Poor thing. They were gone by the next morning so it was mostly just red because baby skin is so soft and sensitive.

Rose also went down the big slide a few times with me and then one time all by herself and she went down the biggest slide with Ryan one time. I'm so proud of her because it has taken forever to get her to go down a slide. That she wanted to go by herself was surprising but so fun to watch. I just am so surprised at how much fun holidays are when you get to see them through your child's eyes.

I just loved our visit this year. I normally don't like fall that much, but this year has been so much fun introducing Rose to all the things there are to be excited about. Colorful leaves, pumpkins, halloween, jackets and hats, hot chocolate and wassail, apple cider donuts. It's all so much more exciting and fun when you have a two year old to experience it with.

I love this shot. haha the hay stuck to her hat and jacket are just too funny!

Note to self: no soft and fuzzy clothing next year.
