Halloween this year lived up to all of my expectations and more! Holidays are the most fun with little kids, and last year I was so disappointed that trick or treating just didn't seem to be a thing in our area with Covid, because it would have been the first year that Rose really understood what was going on.
But this year, we had so much fun reading Halloween books from the library and watching monster movies like Hotel Transylvania and The Addams Family leading up to Halloween. We planned a family costume. Rose wanted to be Spiderman but I knew she wouldn't actually like wearing a full Spiderman outfit (mainly the mask part), so we went to DI to see what we could find and there were a bunch of little girl Wonder Woman dresses. We bought one and then went home and found cartoons of Wonder Woman and then I went to the library to find books about her and by the time Halloween came around, Rose was obsessed with her. 😂 Grannie made her a little gold crown and belt and wrist bands to go with her costume and Ryan made her a little sword. And then we planned the rest of our costumes around that. I was Cat Woman, Ryan was Batman, and Lucy was Harley Quinn (but Rose thought it was Charley Quinn, so we called her that because it was just so cute!)
On Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market, because all the booths hand out candy on the Halloween Farmer's Market Saturday, and Rose did get to do that last year and loved it.
Then we went home for nap time (a holiday necessity).
After nap time I made everyone come take pictures by a black wall because I knew it would look cool (and so I could make a reel for Instagram), and then we drove to Springville to go trick or treating where Ryan's grandma used to live. We went up and down a few streets for about an hour and then decided to head home and get pizza for dinner. I did want to take Rose to one more house that was all decorated for Halloween and when we got to the door the guy gave Rose a huge handful of candy and I was like "Wow, good thing we stopped here before going home!" and the guy said "This is your last house? Here have more!" and dumped two more big handfuls into Rose's bucket. 😂
My favorite house was a nice old man who had warm sugar coated donuts for everyone (including the parents) and apple cider! I want to be that person someday!
