Camping at Affleck State Park - August 2022

Our 4th camping trip of the year was to Affleck State Park (between Salt Lake City and Park City) with my cousin, Adam, and his family, Katie (his wife), Owen, and Kairi (their kids).

We probably should have planned the timing better because Ryan ended up having to work until about 4 pm on Friday afternoon and Adam was out of town for work the few days leading up to Friday and his flight didn't arrive until about 4:30 pm that day. So, Ryan packed all of the camping stuff in the van Thursday night, but I had to get the kids up and ready and pack all of their stuff and food and load it into the van on my own on Friday. And Katie had to do all of the packing and car loading (including all of their camping stuff) on her own. Both of us with our kids. To keep our lives more simple, we decided to do a grocery order to the Walmart closest to our campsite.

Turns out camping with 5 kids 5 and under is a bit chaotic. We had a lot of fun, but all of the adults were pretty wiped out before we even got there haha, and the kids were VERY energetic. We ate some yummy food, explored around the campsite a bit, took naps, and played a few games. On Saturday, we drove to Park City to go to one of my favorite thrift stores. And then stopped at a new playground to let the kids run around and burn some energy.

On Saturday evening, we were supposed to make skillet pizza. But we hadn't realized that the grocery order didn't have pizza dough as ordered, so when we went to make dinner we didn't have what we needed. We were so tired that we decided to go into town again to have Red Robin for dinner.

The most miraculous part of the campout for me was that all 3 of my kids slept through the night! Both nights! Even Quinn. I probably slept better while camping then I have at home for a while!

It was a great final camping trip for the year!
